Government Island

Government Island is a historic site located in Stafford County, Virginia. The island is 17 acres and contains a variety of remnants of the past. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The park is part of the Rappahannock River Heritage Trail. The trail allows visitors to enjoy the scenic sites of Fredericksburg while exploring the river.

The nature trail includes interpretive signs that explain the history of the site. It also features a boardwalk for wildlife observation. Several creeks provide habitat for a variety of wildlife.

The Canal Path/Heritage Trail Loop is a 3-mile paved trail that parallels the Rappahannock River. It provides a mix of sunny and shaded areas.

The site is popular with visitors during the summer. The area provides access to an 18-hole golf course, a fishing lake, and numerous trails. There are also picnic tables and a playground for younger visitors.

Gauntlet Golf Course

The Gauntlet Golf Course is located in Curtis Memorial Park in Stafford County. It is a great place to play a round of golf while enjoying the natural scenery that this area has to offer. It’s also a good choice for a wedding or other special event. The club has a slew of amenities, including a driving range, chipping and putting greens, and a full service practice facility.

The Gauntlet is a challenging layout. It boasts a notable elevation drop on the front nine. The back nine is a more open course with less water to contend with. The most difficult hole is the par three fourth hole, where the tee shot must be played with a good amount of accuracy to avoid the greenside bunker.

The Gauntlet is lauded as one of the best golf courses in Virginia, and the surrounding areas. The course was designed by P B Dye, and the results are impressive. The Gauntlet has four sets of tees, and is designed to provide you with the best golfing experience. Here is another spot to visit.

Skate park

The Curtis Park in Fredericksburg, VA is a great destination for family fun and recreation. With 580 acres, it offers a multitude of activities. From hiking and biking, to horseshoes and baseball, there is something for the entire family. It’s also easy to access via I-95, so getting here is a breeze.

It’s no surprise that this location is a hot spot for wedding photo shoots. The amphitheater, olympic-sized swimming pool, and well-marked hiking trails all make for a memorable day. The park is also home to a 91-acre fishing lake, which attracts ospreys and great blue herons.

There is a skateboard park at the park, but it’s not the most popular pastime. However, if you have the patience and the money, you can find a great skate spot within a few miles of the park. To get there, take a right on Hungry Springs Road, just past the RR tracks.
